A Faith-Based Foundation · 508(c)(1)(a)

Stewarding generosity for generations to come.

The Barton Legacy Foundation funds grants, ministry partnerships, and family assistance — quietly, dependably, and with conviction. We believe philanthropy is a calling, and that a legacy is measured by whom it lifts.

Our Mission & Heritage

A foundation built on conviction, continuity, and care.

The Barton Legacy Foundation was established as a faith-based 508(c)(1)(a) foundation with a single, enduring purpose — to direct generosity toward the people, ministries, and communities that carry it forward. We do not chase trends. We steward resources with patience, and we measure our work in lives strengthened and legacies preserved.

Heritage, to us, is not nostalgia. It is responsibility. Every grant we consider, every partnership we form, and every family we assist is weighed against a simple question: will this still matter a generation from now? That question shapes a quieter, steadier kind of philanthropy — one rooted in faith and committed to dignity at every step.

We work alongside ministries, nonprofits, and households with the conviction that good stewardship is itself an act of service. Our role is to listen carefully, give thoughtfully, and remain present long after the first gift is made.

  • I. Faithful Stewardship We treat every entrusted resource as a trust to be honored, not merely spent.
  • II. Dignity in Giving We give in a way that respects the worth of every person and partner we serve.
  • III. A Generational Horizon We favor investments whose value compounds quietly across decades.
What We Fund

Four channels of intentional giving.

Our grantmaking is deliberate and relationship-led. Each channel reflects a distinct way the Foundation seeks to strengthen people, ministries, and communities for the long term.

Channel I

Community Grants

Targeted funding for community investment — neighborhood programs, local development efforts, and initiatives that build resilience where people live and worship.

  • Community investment and revitalization
  • Program and capacity grants
  • Local outreach and service initiatives
Channel II

Nonprofit & Ministry Partnerships

Long-term partnership with ministries and nonprofit organizations whose mission aligns with our faith-based purpose — supporting both their work and their stewardship.

  • Ministry program support
  • Nonprofit collaboration and grants
  • Shared-mission initiatives
Channel III

Compassionate, discreet assistance for families and individuals facing hardship — extended with respect, care, and a desire to restore stability.

  • Named and family legacy funds
  • Multi-generational philanthropic planning

Scholarships

Educational support for students pursuing study with purpose and character.

Grants & Funding

A considered, relationship-led approach to directing resources where they endure.

Community Investment

Patient capital and partnership for the places that shape everyday life.

How Grants Work

A dignified, deliberate review.

Our process is unhurried by design. Each step is intended to honor both the applicant and the trust placed in the Foundation. Submitting an inquiry begins a conversation; it does not constitute approval of any award.

I

Inquiry

You share your purpose and need through our inquiry form. We review every submission personally and with care.

II

Conversation

Where there is alignment, we open a dialogue to understand your mission, history, and the outcomes you hope to see.

III

Review

The Foundation considers each request against our purpose and capacity. Thoughtful review takes time, and no outcome is assured.

IV

Stewardship

For awarded grants, we remain present — accompanying partners and recipients well beyond the initial gift.

Please note: an inquiry or application to The Barton Legacy Foundation does not guarantee a grant, award, or any particular outcome. The Foundation makes no representations regarding tax treatment; prospective partners should consult their own qualified advisors.

In the present season, to those who would build something lasting —

Dear Friend of the Foundation,

Generosity, in our experience, is rarely loud. It is the quiet decision to put resources where they will outlast the giver — into a family steadied through hardship, a ministry strengthened for its calling, a community made more whole. That is the work we have given ourselves to, and it is the work we invite you to consider with us.

We founded this organization as a faith-based 508(c)(1)(a) foundation because we believe philanthropy is a form of stewardship — a trust held on behalf of others. We do not measure ourselves by the size of a single gift, but by whether the good of that gift continues long after it has been made. Heritage, properly understood, is simply generosity that refused to stop at one generation.

If you are a ministry or nonprofit seeking partnership, a family in need of assistance, or a household wishing to establish a legacy of giving, we would be honored to hear from you. We cannot promise an outcome — no honest foundation can — but we can promise to listen with care, to consider with discernment, and to treat your trust as the serious thing it is.

Thank you for considering this Foundation. May whatever you build be worthy of those who come after you.
